Spiced Apple Galette
A free form pastry filled with cinnamon spiced apples, folded rustic and golden. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla.

- 1all butter pie dough, chilled
- 4apples, thinly sliced
- 1/3 cupbrown sugar
- 1 tspground cinnamon
- 1/4 tspground nutmeg
- 1 tbsplemon juice
- 2 tbspbutter, cut into small pieces
- 1egg, beaten, for the crust
- 1 tbspturbinado sugar
Steps
- 1Preheat the oven to 400°F and roll the chilled dough into a rough circle on a lined baking sheet.
- 2Toss the apple slices with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- 3Arrange the apples in the center of the dough, leaving a two inch border, and dot with butter.
- 4Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pleating as you go, then brush with egg and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
- 5Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until the crust is deep golden and the apples are tender.
